Fiorentina are determined to win the battle and fight off interest from Milan for their star defender Nikola Milenkovic, a report claims.
With Alessio Romagnoli, Mateo Musacchio and now Leo Duarte all on the sidelines, Milan’s desire to sign a new centre-back has become a virtual necessity as Simon Kjaer and Matteo Gabbia are currently the only options.
Nikola Milenkovic has repeatedly been linked over the past few weeks, but during his latest editorial for MilanNews Franco Ordine has confirmed that Fiorentina are determined to hang onto the Serbian defender.
They will attempt to do so by offering him a renewal of his contract by increasing his salary so as not to have a situation where he leaves next summer in a cut-price deal or even in 2022 on a free.
At this point Maldini and Massara have given up and have started to examine other roads. There is only one possible hope, and that is that the 22-year-old declines the renewal thus pushing Commisso to sell, especially since there are no offers for Federico Chiesa.
