MN: Milan hoping for more from Ballo-Touré after first season struggles

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will go into the new season with Theo Hernandez as one of the first names on the team sheet, but doubts persist about his deputy.

MilanNews writes how there will be a need for Stefano Pioli to make the right rotations in such a long season to allow those who take the field to always be at 100% and Theo Hernandez is one of the players that will be considered a starter for virtually every situation.

At the moment Theo’s back-up is still Fodé Ballo-Touré and despite not having convinced last season, he seems destined to retain the role of deputy. The Senegalese full-back has a contract with Milan until June 2025, and except for interesting offers (there was talk of a couple of Turkish clubs being interested but nothing concrete happened), he is unlikely to leave.

Moreover, directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are currently concentrating on other roles like attacking midfielder, central midfielder and centre-back, so now everyone hopes that after a year of acclimatisation the former Monaco man shows his qualities.

  1. Why we bought this guy over getting a young Italian is beyond me. We just needed a backup for Theo and we need more italians for the homegrown rules anyways so seems like an easy eay to accomplish this yet no we get this joke…
