MN: Versatility and a low-cost opportunity – Milan in talks over Dutch forward

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are working on reinforcing the attacking department as well as the midfield and contracts are ongoing over a deal for Arnaut Danjuma.

According to MilanNews, the aim of Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada is to sign Danjuma on a paid loan with an option to buy that is not a high price. He is seen as a wild card of sorts because he can play as a left winger, striker and even on the right if needed.

This is exactly what Stefano Pioli is asking to strengthen his squad, players who can play in multiple positions, as seen with the likes of Divock Origi and Ante Rebic who have both played as centre-forward and as winger on the left.

After spells with NEC, Club Brugge and Bournemouth he went to Villarreal where he amassed 33 appearances and scored 12 goals in an impressive 2021-22 season. A move to Tottenham followed but he only made one start and scored once.

Moncada is known for trying to identify value that others might not see, and he believes Danjuma could be an astute pick-up.

  1. This sounds like the kind of stupid loan that happened with dest when he fell in our lap. He wasn’t the right player and that showed. Just because we can get a player doesn’t mean we should get that player.

  2. .. as seen with the likes of Divock Origi and Ante Rebic who have both played as centre-forward and as winger on the left.

When the comparison was Ante and Origi, I immediately thought did Pioli expect players who can play in multiple positions even without output??? Ante in the past is an important player. But after his injury, he needs to think about moving elsewhere for the sake of his career.. Origi? This guy’s only ability, is to add to the burden on Milan’s balance sheet. His luck in scoring goals has been spent while he was playing at Liverpool..

So, when Pioli was looking for a versatile player, Pioli was really only looking for a player who could keep the team with 11 players on the field. And you don’t need a scouting team, lots of money and intuition to find a player like that.
Come to my village Mr. Pioli, you will get a lot of players like that…

    1. Ante’s career is over! He got kicked out of Croatia national team, because of spat with his coach.. And now in Milan, he is just an outcast, add to that: he is on a decline, since past two seasons and now no top club is interested in signing him! I don’t think he has any motivation left to rejuvenate his career.. Just collect fat cheques, to enjoy his retirement!

      1. Ante has been kicked when he is in form at Milan.
Words he spoke against the coach are in right way.
Someone has to spokeup not just situp and let the coach do whatever he wanted
You should respect for such players rather than humiliating.
Yeah he is not good past season with injuries, loosing first team place to Leao etc., he should move away to other smaller clubs but you cannot humiliate for the good things players have done

        1. Dude Ante was one of my favourite players, when he was consistent! I was one of those, folks who wanted him to stay beyond his loan spell.. I was happy, when we signed him on a permanent deal… I am not humiliating anyone, if not all then, most of us have same opinion here!
