The AC Milan ticket office had a surge in sales after Matteo Gabbia’s goal which won the derby on Sunday night, according to a report.

After Sunday night’s success in the Derby della Madonnina against Inter – their first against the Nerazzurri after six defeats – Milan are preparing to return to the field on Friday 27 September at 20:45 at San Siro against Lecce.

MilanNews reports that in the 24 hours following Gabbia’s header in the 89th minute of the match against Inter, over 4,500 tickets were sold for the next game against the Salento club. It is a figure that suggests – with three days still to buy tickets – that we are heading towards a sell-out.

Indeed, a look at the Milan ticket website shows that there are not many sectors left to buy tickets in, with the only availability being one section in the lower tier, a couple in the second tier and some in the third tier.

It is a stark contrast to the mood after the Liverpool game, a 3-1 defeat to begin the Champions League campaign in front of only 59,000 fans. Ticket sales for that match were poor due to the high prices coupled with the bad start to the new campaign.
