MN: Milan look into alternatives as Taremi negotiation remains blocked

AC Milan are now looking into alternative options because the time to unblock the Mehdi Taremi deal is running out, according to reports.

As of yesterday evening it seemed that Milan were closing in on getting their main target for the striker role as a fee had been agreed with Porto for Taremi per multiple sources. However, in the next few hours complications would arise to stall things.

We remain in a state of limbo, whereby the negotiation for Taremi remains complicated and with the passage of time the chances that the deal will go through are increasingly diminishing.

MilanNews reports that the difficulties in sealing the Taremi deal mean that the Milan management are evaluating possible alternatives who could arrive on a last-minute deal to complete the attack.

Meanwhile, Lorenzo Colombo is still waiting to know his future, with Monza pushing to sign him on loan especially after having allowed Andrea Petagna to go to Cagliari.

  1. Petkovic from Dinamo. He plays for Croatia, he scored against Brazil and Netherlands, had an amazing assist against Milan in last seasons Champions League and generally reminds of Giroud but with way better technique and less goals, but a lot of assists. He spent half of his career in Italy, speaks perfect Italian and wouldn’t have trouble adapting to a “new” country like most players do. Under 10M, probably would be available for 5M and his salary wouldn’t be high at all. If it doesn’t work out they can recoup the money from any Turkish club in 20 minutes. Won’t happen but that is the player that is a great last minute alternative…

      1. He has actual multiple seasons experience in CL, plays for national team and is 28. I mean, buying him for 5-6M would be a move in which they can’t lose money in the end. You can’t really find a player with that much experience for that money. If he is average at Milan Bologna or Sassuolo will buy him for 10ish M because he isn’t a bad player. Or some Turkish club.

      1. Bro got bought from Bologna and sent on loan to hellas and then on loan at dynamo and then they bought him so how is he a ready striker? Better get Livaja but isn’t too good anymore

        1. 4 years ago. He scored in the World cup quarters against Brazil, he scored against Netherlands in Nations league finals. He played CL against Milan last season. He was quite good last 3 years…You are talking about 2019 or before. I can mention a few players that are Milan players and where they were, irrelevant. Try something relevant.

    1. There’s no chance
      Nope
      Nope
      Nope
Going to Everton also more like winger pos
      Maybe
Join Inter Miami and more like a winger
      Join Leeds United
Join on loan some french team

  2. Benjamin Sesko and Santiago Gimenez is ideal striker for long term plan, but If management wants striker with great experience in UCL, Alvaro Morata isn’t bad tho

      1. It’s a different ball game though isn’t it, one of Sesko, David or Gimenez is an investment for 5 plus years with a potentially huge sell on fee.

My thoughts on Taremi was that he becomes the senior striker (Giroud may well go to Saudi or the US next summer) and next summer we sign the new striker like Sesko/David etc. perhaps there’s the opportunity to advance that to this summer…

  3. What I really don’t understand is why Milan didn’t went for Mikautadze, he was scouted by Milan he is 22 and very good stats Ajax got him for 16 mil… I think he would have been a lot more useful than Okafor but they did a good job on this summer so I’m not complaining.

    1. I doubt it mikautadze was playing second division in England and Okafor has a lot more experienced in europe competitions so…. Let’s just see if we have regret and wish him good luck

  4. Santiago Gimenez from Feyernoord
Gift Emmanuel Orban from KAA Gent
    Jonathan David from LOSC Lille
    Vagelis Pavlidis from AZ
    Verdat Muriqi from RCD Mallorca
    Enes Unal from Getafe
Raul De Tomas from Rayo Vallecano
    Niklas Fülkrug from Wender Bremen
    Gaetan Laborde from OGC Nice
    Arnaud Kalimuendo from Stade Rennais
Jorgen Strand Larsen from RC Celta
    Patson Daka from Leicester City
    Youssef En Nesyri from Sevilla
Pick One AC Milan and sign him right away

  5. Tkoje, Good suggestion I would say. I believe he would do well. I would be surprised if Taremi deal happens now, I thin the issue at this point is with players entourage rather the Porto.

Everyone now wants to get paid… that’s the issue. If that is true, we should walk away.

Great player though, he would have done well with Milan

    1. Yes, and barely any risk with that money involved. It isn’t like the choice of strikers on deadline day is huge, Jonathan David and similar players are just not available anymore, at least not before January.

  6. You really are putting Scarlett from Tottenham there in that list? You think we don’t have someone as good in primavera?

    1. We don’t have one… in football manager. Dane Scarlett is really one of highest potential in football manager, none of our current Primavera compare to him lol

      1. Ever heard of Francesco Camarda? I mean he definitely is a super talent and his potential on FM is extremely high, actually higher than Scarlett. I don’t know what you’re talking about, but it isn’t even true.

  7. Sesko and Gimenez are both great shouts. The other one that intrigued me is Jonathon David. Of course economically it is different from Taremi, but he’s started the season well and has that real athletic presence we need. Perhaps our relapsing Lille would help.

He could really explode at Milan….

    1. We need an actual striker. Sesko isn’t that prolific, idk abt Gimenez and David is also not so physical. I really like Pavlidis. Albeit not fast, he’s strong, technical, and scores loads of goals. He was also Reijnders’ teammate at AZ so it could help his adaptation and their partnership would be lethal.

  8. Problem is Milan is running out of time to sign anyone at this point….

If Taremi is eager to join Milan like he says, he needs to reevaluate his entourage because they are tanking the deal. Same thing as in the Samardic deal it sounds like…. Ridiculous

  9. We just got drawn into Group of Death and we now only have Giroud as a #9….

Unfortunately because WE WAITED TOO LONG till end of market we are stuck. It is OUR fault we are in the situation and other parties know it. We should absolutely should pay and get Taremi. Now is not the time to be righteous or frugal.

What are the alternatives? Go into UCL against PSG, Dortmund, Newcastle and the season with just Giroud? Try and bring Origi back into the team? Rely on Okafor as our #9 even though everyone including Pioli and management and the player himself said he’s a LW? Play Pulisic as a false 9 against all those teams and despite elnever having tied during preseason??

Because we waited we are stuck. One injury to Giroud or just plain fatigue at 37 and we are in serious trouble.

MOST IMPORTANT: NOT making it to the knock out stages of UCL and missing out on an extra 40-50M that brings – is MUCH worse financially then paying extra 5M in commission fees to Taremi’s agents or giving him a starters salary of 3M etc….

Like I said. WE created this mess by waiting. Columbo is gone to Monza. Origi in the stands. Nobody is left. Now is NOT the time to be frugal. We waited too long for that and are now screwed if we don’t give in and instead take the risk…for 5M extra it is not worth it IMO – too much at stake to risk for that amount at this point.
