MN: Milan management pledge to invest in the squad in January but two things are ruled out

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will continue to invest in the squad in the January transfer window, it is claimed, but any big-money purchases can be ruled out.

Brahim Diaz, Sandro Tonali, Ciprian Tatarusanu, Jens Petter Hauge and Diogo Dalot were the five new faces to arrive, while Maldini and Massara secured a permanent deal for Ante Rebic and the renewal of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

A meeting took place at San Siro on Thursday in which CEO Ivan Gazidis plus directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara answered questions on different topics including the summer window.

On the January mercato, MilanNews report that the club have pledged to continue to invest to improve the squad, but there will be no €50m signings nor will free agents – like Mario Mandzukic – be considered.

It comes after the management feel they achieved all the objectives they set for themselves in the summer mercato. Milan had well-defined priorities at the beginning of the summer such as the permanent signing of Simon Kjaer, the renewal of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the purchase of Ante Rebic and Alexis Saelemaekers, and the new signings compliment the core.

Speaking of spending, we have picked out three alternative right-wing targets for AC Milan to consider in the January window.
