Although the transfer window ended just a few weeks ago, Milan are always at work on this front. Florian Thauvin was linked with them towards the end of the mercato and his name remains on the list, a report claims.
According to MilanNews.it, the Rossoneri have kept in touch with the winger’s entourage since the player could be available at a low cost. Thauvin’s contract expires in June 2021 and it’s looking unlikely that he will renew with Marseille.
In the summer, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara contacted some intermediaries to make an attempt on the player. However, Marseille’s demands of over €20m resulted in Milan postponing the investment until later.
Elliott Management, the club’s owners, will not hold back in January after having invested €640m in the last two years. There won’t be any expensive signings, rather the focus will be on young players or bargain opportunities.
Milan held talks with the Thauvin’s agent at the beginning of October and the contacts remain ongoing. The feelings are very positive and the player wouldn’t mind continuing his career in Italy and Serie A.
The Rossoneri have two ways to get the 27-year-old: sign him on a free transfer in June (would be intense competition) or make an adequate offer in January. They are not the only ones interested, though.
