AC Milan will look to bolster their midfield this summer by signing a player with similar characteristics to Tiemoue Bakayoko, a report claims.
According to the latest from MilanNews reporter Anto Vitiello, Milan’s midfield is set to undergo a revolution this summer as they will not renew the expiring contracts of Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura.
In addition, one of Franck Kessie and Lucas Paquetà could be sold, meaning the only real fixed point in the midfield is Ismael Bennacer – plus possible Rade Krunic.
Bennacer is a player who fully embodies the principles of Elliott’s new Milan; that is young with high potential and with a limited salary. The Algerian will be one of Milan’s pillars of next season, and according to the system that the next coach will have in mind (Ralf Rangnick remains in pole position compared to everyone), he could also play as a mezzala.
The idea of the management, with Moncada and Almstadt having an increasingly influential role on the market, is to support Bennacer with a player who has similar characteristics to Tiemoue Bakayoko.
Vitiello adds that Milan considered signing the Frenchman permanently last summer after a good season under the management of Gattuso, but Marco Giampaolo has different ideas.
In the summer though Milan will try to sign a player with similar characteristics to Bakayoko – currently on loan at Monaco with option to buy – to support Bennacer and give both substance and geometry to the midfield.
