MN: Milan ready to reward Giroud as talks are underway over renewal

By Oliver Fisher -

The AC Milan management are in talks with Olivier Giroud’s entourage over the extension of his contract, according to a report.

Giroud signed a two-year deal – therefore running until June 2023 – when he arrived from Chelsea during the summer of 2021. The French striker contributed decisively to the Scudetto victory last year with some huge goals and has also been excellent this season, working overtime while other forwards are out injured.

MilanNews reports that the Frenchman is seen as one of the certainties of Pioli’s attack and an example for the young players given his status as a leader within the dressing room.

That is why Milan are working to extend the contract of the former Chelsea man by at least a year, with an option on the second also being considered.

Therefore, work is in progress is not only to renew the young players of the squad, but also a veteran of absolute reliability like Giroud, who has the perfect attitude to mentor the others.

  1. He’s surprised me, to be honest. A good old fashioned poacher forward who will still be able to operate at this level for another 2-3 years, injuries permitting.

  2. I love Giroud! What an example for the younger ones to follow! Imagine being a promising forward walking into a dressing room with Grioud and Ibra, can’t get any better than that!

    1. Milan is and has been more than ready, it’s Leao’s outlandish demands that are the issue. The reality is he probably has no desire to renew, he wants to go somewhere else as a free agent so that he can get a huge signing bonus to pay off his debt to Sporting.

  3. Yes this man Olivier Giroud will deliver ,no mistake about that ..He has extreme confidence in his own ability and so have I .Yes if he says fit then he has years ahead of him ..Yes a real old fashioned centre forward ….He will score goals ..His awareness and extreme strength are one of his contributing factors.
Inside the 18 yard area ,he is second to none .

  4. 100% agree with any extension for Olive. As a massive Giroud fan since 2012, I can tell you he’s one of the best headers of the ball you can find, his hold-up/one-touch play is exquisite….and he is ALWAYS decisive in the big games….he’s proven that throughout his career, and certainly with Us last season. Also, he scores frequent wonder goals. Finally, he’s won a World Cup too. What more could you ask for as a dressing room leader at Milanello? Also, both his Nonne are Italian!! Grande Oli!!
