MN: Milan’s record against Czech teams as Pioli prepares for Slavia Praha clash

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are preparing to take on Czech opposition this Thursday in the Europa League, with Slavia Praha coming to town in the round of 16 first leg.

The Rossoneri know that the Europa League represents their only chance of winning silverware this season, as Inter are running away with the Premier League title and they are out of the Coppa Italia thanks to a loss against Atalanta.

Czech teams have long been a part of the semi-latter stages of European tournaments, and as reported by Milan News, this is actually going to be the 16th time that Milan have taken on a side from the Czech Republic.

In the previous 15 meetings, Milan have been victorious on nine occasions. They have drawn three times and been beaten twice.

Incredibly, eight of these matches have come against Sparta Praha, the team that Liverpool will be taking on in the same competition.

Milan have beaten Sparta six times and drawn the other two. The other teams that Milan have faced from the Czech Republic are Slovan Liberec, Viktoria Plzen and Vitkovice.

Slavia Praha were the top team in AS Roma’s Europa League group this season, so it is clear that they are not an opponent to be taken too lightly.
