MN: Milan take another big psychological step towards the title but another challenge awaits

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan really had to battle until the end for their three points against Fiorentina but in the end Rafael Leao produced the goods with eight minutes left.

MilanNews report how the goal was a very important one as it kept the same two-point gap on Inter (with head to head advantage secured) but with one game less on the fixture list remaining. The Rossoneri stayed in first place but the Nerazzurri responded by winning at Udinese.

Overall Milan’s performance against La Viola on Sunday afternoon was full of energy and creativity but what was lacking was the end product. Milan have struggled to be clinical in recent weeks and that continues, but they stuck at it and found a way.

Pioli has admitted that he is noticing a growth in terms of team maturity: “From a mental point of view the team is growing a lot, especially when we are so good at overcoming the difficulties that our opponents face us. Although young, we are improving on how to suffer in difficult moments and how to overcome them. In the last 15 minutes I have tried to remain lucid as the team did. We did not get caught up in the frenzy, we did not stop being a team.”

Milan really must keep their foot on the accelerator against Hellas Verona on Sunday evening at the Bentegodi and the stakes could be even higher as Inter will play Friday night at San Siro, meaning they could be top at least until Milan play.

Milan have already shown several times that they know how to suffer and continue to improve by doing so. If you want to win the Scudetto, the only way to do so is to demonstrate a winning mentality no matter what.
