MN: Milan turn to Brazilian playmaker as Real Madrid raise a wall after Theo Hernandez case

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are beginning to plan for next season and one of the areas that could undergo changes is the creative department, a report claims.

According to MilanNews, the Rossoneri management are waiting for developments regarding the negotiation for the renewal of Hakan Calhanoglu, with the parties close to an agreement. Now, they are beginning to look around for a deputy to the Turkey international, who has the right characteristics for Pioli’s system.

Brahim Diaz joined the Rossoneri in the summer from Real Madrid on a dry loan, and it is the formula that is the problem. Los Blancos have made a wall and after being burned by the sale of Theo Hernandez, they opposed the idea of permanently losing the playmaker. The Rossoneri wanted to give Pioli a reinforcement and therefore compromised by accepting a dry loan. It is unlikely that there can be a negotiation for a permanent transfer, especially given the very high demands of Real.

Now, eyes have turned to Portugal and more specifically Otavio of Porto. He is capable of playing in different roles behind the striker but is naturally a No.10, and is described by the report as ‘gifted with imagination, great technique and speed’, but lacking consistency thus far. Otavio’s contract will expire in June 2021 and the Rossoneri are very interested in signing him on a free transfer.
