MN: Milan will not risk Kjaer during friendly against FC Köln on Saturday

By Oliver Fisher -

Contrary to recent reports, AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli will not field Simon Kjaer in this Saturday’s coming friendly against FC Köln.

After the 3-0 win against amateur side Lemine Almenno at Milanello in a 60-minute friendly to kick off the preseason campaign, all eyes are now on the Telekom Cup game in Germany this coming weekend as the first meaningful test.

There were rumours that Kjaer could make his return to the field having not played in a game situation since sustaining ligament damage during the win over Genoa back in December, requiring an operation that has kept him out since.

However, Milan TV (via MilanNews) are reporting that the Danish defender will continue his training program in order to be 100% ready over the next few weeks, as the most important thing is that he is available for the season opening game against Udinese at San Siro on August 13.

Then Gabbia is the only other reliable CB so I hope he stays. I think he will shine this season. I think Kjaer is 4th choice tbh. As of now we only have 3 and we should be on the market for another one for depth
