MN: Milan’s probable XI for Dortmund clash – indications come from training

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan had their final training session at Milanello before their Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund, and some clues on the line-up arrived.

According to what is being reported by MilanNews, Stefano Pioli should line up his troops with Mike Maignan in goal and a four-man defence that features captain Davide Calabria on the right and Theo Hernandez on the left, with Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori in the middle.

In midfield there is the need for changes with Rade Krunic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek out injured. Tijjani Reijnders is expected to play in front of the defence with Yunus Musah to his right and Tomasso Pobega to the left.

The absolute certainty seems to be the front three, where Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao should act as the right and left wingers respectively, with Olivier Giroud the centre-forward.

In the early afternoon the team will leave for Germany. Pioli and Thiaw’s press conference is scheduled for 19:00 CEST.

Probable Milan XI (4-3-3): Maignan; Calabria, Thiaw, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Reijnders, Musah, Pobega; Pulisic, Giroud, Leao.

  1. Playing pobega on the left is such a waste of space.
He can’t make any link play with either theo or leao.
Reijnders is a new signings yet he can adapt and play well with all his team, while pobega can’t.
Everytime he got the ball he always received it with a heavy touch which led to either dispossession or an awkward pass to his team.
I don’t understand how can he be worse than krunic.

      1. Maybe stop complaining about our players and support them.
Good luck to Pobega, I hope he scores and plays well in a Milan victory.

  2. Again with Giroud….. He’s aging in a hurry and his first touches are more often poor than not. Why does Pioli insist on fielding him? He’s just a stop gap. Use speed o the counters against the likes of Hummels.

  3. Giroud is class …I watched this man so many games over the years ,,,the man’s technical ability is second to none …I don’t know what some of you don’t listen ..
When we signed Olivier Giroud,,,I said that I thought we would win the scuddeto,,which indeed we did ,,much of this was due to him ,,again last season we against all the odds reached the champions leauge semi final ,again Olivier was involved..
The man’s awareness and positional play is a craft that only he has learnt…He knows exactly where to be at the right time ,,,and he is so physically strong ,and is perfect for holding the ball up waiting for the wide men to get into positions..
I have already told you that I expect him to score around 20 goals ( this season ) in all competitions..
So don’t ever write this man off ,,he may be 37 years of age ,,,but he is still the best man to have in and around the 18 yard area…I have been involved with football for a long time …why is he still picked to represent his country …
If we beat Dortmund tomorrow,,,what will you say ,especially if Giroud scores yet again Answer that now ! …I have also said that we can win the scuddeto this season ..i believe we probably win ..much of that will be due again to ..Yes you have guessed it ..OLIVIER GIROUD…I believe in our squad ,,indeed the best we have had for a while …I also believe in our manager pioli ..

  4. Pioli and his absurdity when it come to playing a low tactical player’s in an important matches won’t seize ti amaze me.
Can somebody tell me what a Freaking Pobega doing bin this match? Italian coachi and biased are 5/6 gosssh🤦

  5. Pobega play because we need energy vs genoa. Adili later come as super sub in CL and in serie A he will start again not pobega . This ppl here only want same line up every match
