MN: Milan’s probable XI for Verona clash – De Ketelaere could get a chance

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will look to end the season on a high note tomorrow when they face off against Hellas Verona at San Siro, who need a result to boost their survival hopes.

According to the latest from MilanNews, Stefano Pioli is expected to field almost the exact same team that won against Juventus last Sunday, with Mike Maignan in goal and a back four of Davide Calabria, Malick Thiaw, Fikayo Tomori and Theo Hernandez.

Rade Krunic and Sandro Tonali should be the midfield double pivot with Junior Messias on the right wing and Rafael Leao on the opposite flank.

There is a doubt regarding the playmaker role, with Charles De Ketelaere currently the marginal favourite to get the nod over Brahim Diaz.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Thiaw, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Tonali, Krunic; Messias, De Ketelaere, Leao; Giroud.

Bench: Mirante, Tatarusanu, Ballo-Touré, Kalulu, Kjaer, Gabbia, Florenzi, Pobega, Adli, Bakayoko, Vranckx, Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz, Origi, Rebic.

Doubts: De Ketelaere-Brahim Diaz 55%-45%, Krunic-Pobega 55%-45%.

Out: Bennacer, Ibrahimovic.

    1. There is one other option: JI is wrong

You do realize that Milan have won many games with CdK starting including the only win against inter this season, aren’t you?

      1. Hope cdk will get a chance to start on the right wing! Only 1 chance his qualities are on the wings that is the position where he showed his potential at his old clubs. At the beginning you can also see cdk was natural seeking for the wings but now he is following the instructions for the CAM position.

        1. Wrong
Cdk didn’t play at the wings in Bruges
          He played false 9
He went to the wings because that is where the space was and how he played

  1. Isn’t it Diaz’s last game? Bit of a slap in the face to start CDK – the man who treats a football like kryptonite – over him from Diaz’s point of view.

    1. Only one of those is going to be here next year though and it’s not Brahim. Why play a loan player when the result doesn’t matter rather than giving CDK chance to end the year on a relative high. Give Diaz 10 mins at the end to say thank you and then move on.

      1. I guess you guys are right. If the question was should Pioli start ADLI over Diaz then I’d 100% say yes. How many chances has CDK had over the season and done jack though?

    2. If Diaz won’t stay next season it’s only proper if we start CDK though, the game itself has no influence in the table, we won’t leap Inter as they won against torino. It’s best to gjve chance and assess our own player for next season than give it to player that won’t be with us.

I’m one of those that like Diaz but if he won’t be with us then it’s better to start CDK. Give Diaz 10-20mins for farewell and thanks for his contribution in 3 years he stay here.

    3. inter have locked 3rd place. Better give the chance to CdK and Adli, young players under contract who barely got chance to start this year.

Personally, I’d like to experiment with Adli at AM and CdK at RW.

  2. This is farewell game for Diaz & Ibra. Hope they can get some last 2 minutes of play for Salute. Thanks bro…

  3. Honestly I don’t care about cdk. He should play 90 minutes that’s fine. What I care more about is Messias playing again…. why…

  4. i would start brahim… even though he is leaving, it will be a way to say goodbye to him. then i would replace him in the 60th min allowing the fans in the stadium to say goodbye. I am not the biggest diaz fan but he has been there for us in some games and it is only right we thank him for his service. Would prefer to start saladmakers instead of messias. I really don’t know why pioli continues preferring messias in favour of saladmakers, even when messias is in poor form and saladmakers was in good form.

  5. Play CDK 88 minutes , Brahim & Ibra 2-3 minutes to say farewell.. This match have no effect anymore for ACM but for verona that will be all out to avoid relegation

  6. I feel for Yacine Adli. He was getting on well during pre-season then just when CkD on board. Adli all of sudden isn’t playing Pioli’s kind of tactics, what when wrong? Meanwhile he was showing potential of gelling well with the team in pre-season
