MN: Pellegrino set for first-team recall while Bennacer updates are awaited

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan provided a couple of updates on two players who have spent time out injured just before Stefano Pioli’s press conference on the eve of the game against Bologna.

According to MilanNews, Marco Pellegrino will be called up to the first team for the game tomorrow after two matches played with Ignazio Abate’s Primavera against Torino and Atalanta.

The young Argentine defender has been out for a couple of months after breaking his foot during the away draw against Napoli, and tomorrow could mark his return to senior action after his rehab stint with the youth team.

As for Ismael Bennacer, who returned from the Africa Cup of Nations with a slight physical problem, there is still no news as he has yet to undergo tests. Further updates will arrive in the next few hours regarding his adductor issue.

Tuesday night produced a shock in AFCON as the 2019 winners Algeria were dumped out of the tournament at the group stage, with Mauritania claiming a famous first ever win in the competition.

Bennacer missed their last two group games and will almost certainly not be available for the league match against Bologna, scheduled for tomorrow at 20:45 CET.

He should return against Frosinone away from home on Saturday 3 February at 18:00 CET.
