Following the Christmas break, AC Milan players returned to training at Milanello, and some updates have been provided regarding some players returning to training.
Milan players had a two-day break for Christmas, and on December 26, they returned to Milanello to train ahead of the clash against Sassuolo on Saturday.
According to Antonio Vitiello of MilanNews, Yunus Musah returned to training, albeit individually. In the game against Newcastle United, the American midfielder suffered a muscle injury. However, he looks like he could potentially be back in time to feature against the Neroverdi.
In the game against Salernitana, Simon Kjaer was substituted at half-time due to injury. Nonetheless, he has trained with the group today, which will be a massive sigh of relief.
There has also been a positive update for Marco Pellegrino. The Argentine central defender recently returned to training but had trained by himself until now. Alongside Kjaer, he returned to training in a group setting. After it was confirmed that Fikayo Tomori would be absent for two months, it offers a needed boost to Stefano Pioli’s defensive ranks following another addition to their defensive injury list.
This doesn’t matter. The kid isn’t ready to play in the league yet. Needs time and peace of mind to develop.
He is not ready for Serie A. We should stick with Simic and Kjaer until Gabbia makes his return.
I think Pioli will start this back 4 against Sassuolo,
Calabria Kjaer Theo Florenzi
Apart from bringing Gabbia back from loan (who is a youth product and knows the team/system) I honestly think a defensive signing in Jan would simply be a panic buy.
Yes it looks terrible now with our injury list but in a couple months we will have 5 senior CBs on the books (Gabbia,Kjaer, Kalulu, Tomori, Thiaw) plus two promising young CBs almost ready for the step up (Simic, Pellegrino)
That’s 7 options, with an 8th if you include Theo (if Miranda joins in Jan we’ll have cover at LB)
No it’s not ideal, there isn’t a Nesta/Thiago Silva style partnership but another random body just to cover a month would just lead to a bloated squad, not improve us.
I think we bite the bullet and play the youth guys. If that means Pellegrino (or Simic) alongside Kjaer (or Theo) for a couple games, so be it.
Lol that’s dangerous and if/when the youths don’t succeed basically their careers take such a huge hit they might not recover never mind the team slipping down past fourth. This isn’t FIFA.

Relax. The lack of rotation and absolutely clueless physio team will make sure that 2-3 of them will get a new hamstring injury before the season is over. There won’t be the issue of “too many available players” anytime soon.
I think simic is still better than him
