MN: Pioli decides on Kalulu’s best position – he will find playing time in 2021-22

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan appear set to focus on the development of Pierre Kalulu as a centre-back rather than a right-back, according to a report.

MilanNews writes how Kalulu’s signing is an operation that perfectly reflects the new Milan project as he arrived in a low-cost deal, he is talented and flexible with a big room for growth. Stefano Pioli knows it is easy to hinder the development of a young player, especially in a demanding and big club like Milan. For this reason, on some occasions he was not used by the Rossoneri coach, but despite this the Frenchman was always ready when he was called into question.

Kalulu will have to have a lot of patience, but with the Milan management busy looking for a right-back and a left-back, it seems his position is now set. The 20-year-old will probably find less space on the wings and more time as a centre-back next season, but he will probably have to specialise in order to become deputy to Kjaer. With injuries, rotations and plenty of games to play, there will certainly be room for him.

  1. With the exit of dalot we have been crying for a deputy to Calabria, I think kalulu should back up Calabria and then get a young no nonsense centre back for when Kjaer leaves. But what do I know I’m just a fan of this club.

  2. Honestly, I’ve had the same feeling as well. I think he defends better than he attacks and I also think his best games came in the center of the defense so I’ll probably go with this move.
