MN: Pioli deserves the top mark for triumphs in Turin – the top four dream is approaching

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan know that they are very close to being able to secure their return to the Champions League after a seven-year absence.

As MilanNews writes, last night’s 7-0 win over Torino moves them ever closer to the main target for the season of a top four finish, coming after the 3-0 win against Juventus on Sunday. It is the first time since the 1967-68 season that Milan have won both away games in Turin in Serie A, but this time they scored 10 in the process.

A number of players have been understandably praised by the media since such as Franck Kessie who dominated the midfield and scored a penalty, Theo Hernandez who netted a brace, Brahim Diaz who added to his tally and Ante Rebic for his 12-minute hat-trick. The highest grade however, MilanNews writes, should go to Pioli, a man who is the great architect of the Rossoneri’s ride this season.

Despite the 75 points won so far, the certainty of returning to the Champions League is not yet a concrete thing as Atalanta, Napoli and Juventus all kept pace by winning their games. A win against Cagliari on Sunday and Juve dropping points against champions Inter would be enough, and then the next step can be taken.
