MN: Pioli getting ready to welcome Kjaer back – his aim is to win back a starting spot

By Oliver Fisher -

While there is a lot of attention on the centre-back that AC Milan will sign this summer, it must be remembered that Stefano Pioli will welcome back a key man.

MilanNews report that the countdown for Simon Kjaer’s return to the field has begun after the serious knee injury he sustained in December 2021 in the win away at Genoa which ruled him out for the rest of the season.

Kjaer cannot wait to get back to wearing the Milan shirt and could already do so in the pre-season friendly matches, in which he will rack up some minutes to get back into match rhythm having spent so long out.

Kjaer was at Milanello last week to continue training and his aim is to win back a starting spot despite how good the Pierre Kalulu and Fikayo Tomori duo were towards the end of the season. Pioli is waiting to have one of his leaders back, and there is not long to wait now.
