MN: Probable Milan XI to face Napoli – Saelemaekers set for the opposite flank

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli seems to have settled on the starting line-up that will take to the field against Napoli at San Siro tomorrow night.

MilanNews writes that during the week there were several options under consideration by the Rossoneri coach to cope without Rafael Leao who is suspended, from the ‘Christmas tree’ 4-3-2-1 formation to a 4-3-3, but in the end he will stick with the long established 4-2-3-1.

Charles De Ketelaere and Junior Messias will be joined by Alexis Saelemaekers, with the Belgian to be shifted over to the left flank. Brahim Diaz, Rade Krunic and even Yacine Adli ready to lend a hand in that position off the bench.

Ismael Bennacer – the MVP in the Champions League win against Dinamo – will join Sandro Tonali in the double pivot. On the bench Tommaso Pobega and Aster Vranckx are ready to come on and impact the game in progress.

In defence there are no surprised: Mike Maignan will have a back four of Davide Calabria, Pierre Kalulu, Fikayo Tomori and Theo Hernandez ahead of him, with Simon Kjaer, Matteo Gabbia, Malick Thiaw, Sergino Dest and Fode Ballo-Touré on the bench.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Tonali, Bennacer; Messias, De Ketelaere, Saelemaekers; Giroud.
