MN: Probable Milan XI to face Salernitana – Bennacer to start on the bench

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is not expected to make many changes for tomorrow night’s game against Salernitana compared to the team that drew with Spurs.

According to the latest from MilanNews, Mike Maignan will be in goal with Pierre Kalulu, Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori in the three-man defence. There is a small possibility that Simon Kjaer starts over the German, but at present it is only minute.

Sandro Tonali and Rade Krunic will be used in midfield again with Ismael Bennacer therefore starting on the bench, while Alexis Saelemaekers and Theo Hernandez will be the wing-backs given Junior Messias is injured.

Olivier Giroud will lead the attack with Brahim Diaz (ahead of Charles De Ketelaere) and Rafael Leao completing the trident of forwards.

Probable Milan XI (3-4-2-1): Maignan; Kalulu, Thiaw, Tomori; Saelemaekers, Tonali, Krunic, Theo Hernandez; Brahim Diaz, Leao; Giroud.

Bench: Tatarusanu, Mirante, Vasquez, Kjaer, Gabbia, Ballo-Touré, Dest, Bakayoko, Pobega, Vranckx, De Ketelaere, Adli, Rebic, Origi, Ibrahimovic.

Doubts: Thiaw-Kjaer 70%-30%; Krunic-Bennacer 70-30%; Brahim Diaz-De Ketelaere 70%-30%.

  1. I find it strange that Pioli does not rotate more, especially when those who usually play, almost never dominates.

    1. If you look at the quality of our bench it’s not strange at all why he doesn’t rotate.
Napoli rarely rotates and it looks like it’s working just fine for them.

    2. I’m sure Pioli wants to rotate but he clearly doesn’t want to underestimate Salernitana.

It is best to use our best eleven from the start to secure the goals and then sub later.

  2. With Maignan in Goal and a competent defence
We can win this game by a two goal margin.
This is not the game to rest Olivier Giroud he is such a clever tactical player and knows how to create space for players around him ,and of course he can score goals ..I love this player very much ,and plenty more games for him ,especially when he has a player with such pace around him ,that of Rafeol leao .
So i expect us to not only win this game ,but a good possibility of us finishing perhaps even in second place in the league when season ends ..
We are in the last eight of the champions league.
Who knows perhaps could be in the last four ..Yes it’s possibly….We have a a great management team ,and a great manager in Stefani pioli .WE ARE AC MILAN

  3. I do think Pioli should make a point of starting De Ketelaere in games like this against bottom-half teams. His talent isn’t in doubt, but his confidence is clearly low. If he can have a bedrock of security that he’s considered good enough for the team, he will grow from there (and if he has an absolute nightmare in a particular game, he can always be subbed off at HT).

    1. Messias is our best RWB when comes to attack. This season he already packed 5 goals and 2 assist compare to Alexis, Calabria, Florenzi.

      1. Jaka Bijol Who plays CB for Udine scored 3 goals and has 2 assists this seasson so those numbers mean almost nothing because he brings literaly nothing to our game he can’t cross he cant even outsprint friking Acerbi and his defensive effort is not good.

      2. We concede more goals with Messias though, especially when Calabria is on the field as well.

Depends on what you like I guess, but his worth as an attacking player is not in question. People who think Ziyech is much of an upgrade to Alexis or Messias have only seen Ziyech play at the world cup.
