MN: Probable Milan XI to face Genoa – Brahim Diaz to the bench; Bennacer back

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli is close to settling on his starting line-up for tomorrow night’s game against Genoa at San Siro, a report claims.

According to MilanNews, almost 70,000 people are expected at the Meazza for the game but they will not see Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alessio Romagnoli or Samu Castillejo, but Ismael Bennacer and Ante Rebic have recovered.

Mike Maignan will be in goal with the now familiar back four of Davide Calabria at right-back, Theo Hernandez at left-back and a centre-back pairing consisting of Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu.

As mentioned, Bennacer has recovered from the muscle discomfort that made him miss the away match against Torino and he will go back to partnering Sandro Tonali in the engine room, but there will still be a place for Franck Kessie.

The Ivorian will take the spot of Brahim Diaz as the playmaker and one between Alexis Saelemaekers and Junior Messias will start on the right – at the moment the Belgian is ahead. Rafael Leao on the left and Olivier Giroud up front complete the attack.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Theo; Tonali, Bennacer; Saelemaekers (Messias), Kessie, Leao; Giroud.

  1. In continuation of our seasonal experiments, maybe Pioli should try Bennacer in #10/AM.

He may not be the best in that position, but he definitely won’t get bullied and trip on the ball like our Queen Diaz.

    1. With pacy CBs like tomori and Kalulu, we should use 3 men defense and put Theo upfront. Specially when the opponent parks the bus. Theo has better finishing than all our current forwards.
