MN: Pulisic follows on from Kaka in 2007 to net milestone goal for Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

A trend was continued this afternoon in Verona as Christian Pulisic scored and AC Milan won. However, there was something else that intrigued about his goal today.

After a cagey opening to the second half, Milan doubled their advantage as Pulisic got his 12th goal of the season in all competitions and his ninth in Serie A.

Noah Okafor was the one who did all the work, winning possession back off the defender and sprinting through before seeing his shot parried into the path of the winger who tapped into an empty net.

As MilanNews reports, with Pulisic’s goal Milan reached 5,000 in Serie A. They came into the match on 4,998 and thus it was the second goal of the afternoon that did it.

Below are the other milestone goals for the Rossoneri:

➤ 28 May 1950: Gunnar Nordahl in Milan 6-2 Roma for the 1000th goal
➤ 31 May 1964: Paolo Ferrario in SPAL 2-4 Milan for the 2000th goal
➤ 8 December 1991: Daniele Massaro in Milan 2-0 Torino for goal number 3000
➤ 26 August 2007: Kakà in Genoa 0-3 Milan for goal number 4000
➤ 17 March 2024: Christian Pulisic in Hellas Verona 1-3 Milan for goal number 5000

It must be mentioned how regular the intervals are, with 14 years between 1,000 and 2,000, then 17 years until 3,000, 16 years until 4,000 and 17 years until 5,000.

    1. 2007 until today means the whole banter period also included here.

I’m more amazed it doesn’t take us longer to reach it.

1000 goals in 17 seasons, means average of 59 goals/season. Since 2019/20 when Pioli take over, we scored each season 63-74-69 (Scudetto season)-64-currently 55 goals from 29 matches. It’s always more than average each season, credit to him and our team.

And it was by no means poor, even under Ancelotti at 2003/04 and under Allegri at 2010/11 when we won Scudetto, we only scored 65 goals.

  1. That’s a really cool stat 🙂

Firsf 1000 goals are from 1899 to 1950 though? Man that’s interesting
.Maybe was due to less teams therefore less games but still though.

  2. Lol. People think “it took us too long to score another 1000 goals since 2007”, but 2000 to 3000 took forever. I guess we weren’t scoring mutch in the 1970s. And also, basic math skills…
