MN: From RedBird takeover to mercato plans – one month as champions for Milan

By Isak Möller -

One month has passed since AC Milan managed to beat Sassuolo 3-0 away from home and thus secured their first Scudetto in eleven years. Many things have happened since, depending on how you look at it.

This was highlighted by MilanNews this morning, stating that the biggest news obviously has been the takeover of RedBird Capital. It was announced on the 1st of June and the closing will take place in September.

Then, there are the renewals of Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara. given the timings of the current deals, Gerry Cardinale (RedBird) was forced to deal with this straight away. The official statement is imminent, by the looks of it, which is positive.

In addition to these two ‘big events’, you also have the old projects such as the stadium. This is something that Cardinale is very keen on and work has already begun to evaluate Sesto San Giovanni, while there is finally movement for the San Siro area.

So, with this in mind, what will happen? As MilanNews continue, Divock Origi will undergo his medical tests for the club very soon. The likes of Alessandro Florenzi (€2m) and Junior Messias (€4.5m) are very close to being redeemed, while the management will begin serious attempts at signings soon (such as Renato Sanches).
