MN: Renewal of Leao on Milan’s agenda – Maldini ready to make an exception

By Oliver Fisher -

While working on new signings to strengthen the squad, the AC Milan management must also have an eye on ensuring the core of the project stays in place moving forward, and that applies with Rafael Leao.

MilanNews recalls how in 42 overall appearances last season Leao scored 14 goals and 12 assists, attracting the attention of the strongest clubs in Europe and meaning that his value has skyrocketed to well over €70m.

Milan have an appointment with Leao on their agenda to talk about the contract renewal as they want to extend his deal up until 2027, offering him a salary that goes beyond the current internal salary cap imposed at €4.5m net per season.

For Leao the Rossoneri are ready to make an exception and the idea of Paolo Maldini and the ownership is to build a competitive team both domestically and in Europe, so there is no intention to sell the best players but rather to reward them for their progress.
