MN: Renewal of Maldini and Massara imminent – when the announcement should come

By Oliver Fisher -

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are on the verge of extending their contracts with AC Milan and an announcement should come by early next week.

According to what is being reported by MilanNews, the renewals of Maldini and Massara are finally one step away. Lawyers are currently working to settle the final contractual details and then everything should be agreed.

A full and final agreement (and an announcement) is expected either over the weekend or at the beginning of next week, with the latter more likely.

Then the mercato will get moving, with the arrival of Divock Origi set to be made official while the permanent signings of Alessandro Florenzi and Junior Messias to also be confirmed.

There are some question marks about how the directors were allowed to get within a week of their contract expiry, but the most important thing is that they will extend and offer continuity amid the change of ownership.

    1. Or in reality, this was the plan all along. No need to sign a new contract when you already have one in place. It is not like with players, nobody is going to pay a director’s release clause, because they don’t have one. This is how business works, you don’t extend employees’ contracts until needed. Do you talk about any issues, of course, but the actual signing doesn’t happen until the contract that’s in place expires.
