MN: Big San Siro crowd expected for Coppa Italia tie with third tier open

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are expected to have plenty of fans cheering them on at San Siro in the Coppa Italia clash against Atalanta with the third tier of the stadium set to be open.

As has been reported by Milan News, 50,000 tickets to the Coppa Italia tie have already been sold and with the third ring of the stadium set to be opened, there is the potential to sell out.

Considering the Coppa Italia is a tournament that generally struggles to garner any interest, especially before the semi-finals, selling out San Siro would be a great achievement, especially given the opponent is not Inter or Juventus.

Atalanta will be very worthy opponents and Milan must take the game very seriously if they are to reach the semi-final.

Stefano Pioli named a heavily rotated team for the first Coppa Italia match of the season against Cagliari and it paid off, as the Rossoneri won 4-1 with Luka Jovic grabbing two goals.

He would probably expect to start against Atalanta on January 10, and perhaps Chaka Traore would too given he scored in the Cagliari match and the Serie A win over Empoli.

Milan have just confirmed the signing of Filippo Terracciano from Verona and it could be an opportune time for a debut.
