MN: Scans reveal extent of injuries to key Milan duo amid fears of serious problem

By Oliver Fisher -

An update has arrived on the two players who limped off the field during Tuesday night’s 2-1 win over Sassuolo in defensive duo Alessio Romagnoli and Andrea Conti.

After Andrea Conti had gone off in the first half with a knee problem, the captain was forced to miss his first minutes in the league of the entire season so far as he also limped off, replaced by Matteo Gabbia.

Head coach Stefano Pioli seemed to confirm in his post-match comments that Romagnoli will now miss the rest of the season, while there were obviously fears that Conti had sustained another serious problem is his troublesome knees.

According to MilanNews, Romagnoli underwent an MRI scan on Wednesday morning which showed a destructive lesion of the medial gastrocnemius muscle of the right calf.

Conti also underwent some medical checks this morning that have not highlighted meniscal and/or ligament injuries. For the former Atalanta man it is only a distortion trauma, meaning the chances of him playing against his former side on Friday have increased.
