MN: Several players change shirt number ahead of new season – the breakdown

By Oliver Fisher -

The new season always brings along some number changes, but there are quite a few AC Milan players who have opted to switch.

As MilanNews reports, the first couple of alterations were already known. Alvaro Morata was officially announced as a new signing yesterday and it was confirmed he will take the No.7 he has with Spain, while Yacine Adli vacated it and went to No.94, something there is a heartfelt reason behind.

Pierre Kalulu also changed his number, choosing 5 instead of 20, which will instead be worn by the young and promising Milan Futuro full-back Alex Jimenez.

After being left unoccupied by Simon Kjaer after his farewell, the number 24 was assigned to Alessandro Florenzi, who has always been very attached to that particular shirt since the beginning of his career with Roma.

Consequently, the 42 that was his number last season has been passed to Filippo Terracciano, who starts against Rapid Wien and will leave the number 38 shirt vacant, the one he picked when he joined from Hellas Verona in January.

The most glaring gap in the current squad is the lack of a No.9, and at the moment it seems as though Niclas Fullkrug is the man being lined up to fill it.

➤ Yacine Adli: 7 to 94
➤ Pierre Kalulu: 20 to 5
➤ Alex Jimenez: 74 to 20
➤ Alessandro Florenzi: 42 to 24
➤ Filippo Terracciano: 38 to 42
