MN: Slavia Praha to have big away following against Milan at San Siro

By Oliver Fisher -

While certain Europa League ties might not appear glamorous to AC Milan fans after their recent Champions League runs, for opposing teams it could hardly be a bigger fixture.

Slavia Praha will be Milan’s opponent tomorrow night at San Siro in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Europa League with kick-off set for 21:00 CET. Next week, on Thursday the 14th, the return match will be played at the Eden Arena in Prague, at 18:45 CET.

As MilanNews write, the tie will be a chapter in the history of the Czech side who will play at San Siro for the second time in their history, after meeting Inter in the Champions League a few years ago (when they got a 1-1 draw). This time, it will be their first ever meeting with Milan.

The magnitude of the occasion is highlighted through the following of fans that Slavia will bring from the Czech capital. According to estimates reported by the club’s official website, there will be around 5,000 away fans to fill the away section of San Siro.

It is not quite as many as Stade Rennais brought with them for the play-off round first leg, given around 8,000 fans of the Ligue 1 club descended on Milan, some without tickets or with tickets in the home end.
