AC Milan’s record against the lower-ranking sides has been poor this season, but the extent of the team’s struggles has been laid bare.
The latest setback came yesterday against Spezia as Przemysław Wiśniewski reaction finish and Salvatore Esposito’s wonderful free-kick condemned the Rossoneri to a 2-0 defeat against the side who were in 18th spot.

As MilanNews writes, Milan have dropped 29 points this season against teams that are currently outside of the European spots in the table, with 7 draws and 5 defeats.
Here is the list of games in which the Rossoneri have thrown away points against lesser opponents:
➤ Fiorentina (1 loss): 3 points dropped
➤ Bologna (1 draw): 2 points dropped
➤ Torino (1 loss): 3 points dropped
➤ Sassuolo (1 draw and 1 loss): 5 points dropped
➤ Udinese (1 loss): 3 points dropped
➤ Salernitana ( 1 draw): 2 points dropped
➤ Empoli (1 draw): 2 points dropped
➤ Lecce (1 draw): 2 points dropped
➤ Cremonese (2 draws): 4 points dropped
➤ Spezia (1 loss): 3 points dropped
With Sampdoria at home to come on Saturday after the second leg against Inter, the feeling is that more dropped points against a virtually relegated side would be breaking point.

This must be resolved quickly if we wanna get 20th scudetto
This is just about mentality. Massimo paganin said on the last match: couple of milan players didnt how to play with milan shirt. At least with their history and legacy. Me with personally watch almost every milan game on TV, but i dont understand why milan always struggle against the losser club at least the relegation club. At least 5 years to come…
Florenzi said that the mentality in the locker room is different this year and not hungry. This is a big problem that will destroy our performances consistently and shows Pioli isn’t stimulating them anymore
Yes, you need stronger rotation squad. Or release all from second team and bring just youngsters. You will have same result.
Well the other teams in the 2-7 positions have similar lossed points eg. Inter and Atalanta lost 24 and 25 points respectivly. Not as much as Milan though as we play the bigger teams better. But still …
This is a collective and quality problem. The players don’t believe in themselves enough to hold the line in every game regardless of who they play, especially when Leao is out.
They also don’t have the Milan DNA ingrained in the squad. Maldini should work on this, he is Mr Milan. Every player should know what it means to be a Milan player. Hard work every time, with class, grinta and sublime skill. I think a few players are close to exhibiting that Milan DNA, Tonali, Leao, Maignan, Tomori, Krunic. Remember it’s OK to make mistakes but it’s when and how you recover that shows if you have that Milan DNA or not… Too many players in the squad walk on that field without the right attitude.
Imagine if everyone could have Gattusos grinta…
