MN: Tension palpable as Ibrahimovic continues to play hard ball with Milan – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s tug of war with Zlatan Ibrahimovic is continuing as the renewal of the Swede seems no closer than it did weeks ago.

According to MilanNews, the proposal put forward by the club is one they consider to be fair and also significant at €6million in total for a player who will turn 39 during the next season, but the Swede still wants €7m.

The distance between the parties has been gradually shortened by time and by the modus operandi of the owners Elliott Management, and Ibrahimovic would still be the highest paid player in the squad together with team-mate Gianluigi Donnarumma.

If the net base of the offer is €5million, the remaining money is easily reachable thanks to bonuses related to appearances and goals, which shouldn’t be a problem since European appearances and goals are also valid for the activation of these bonuses.

Everyone expected a faster resolution of the affair, but Ibra held the ball in his hand knowing also that the management has staked everything on him.

The report adds how the past few days have passed within a climate of palpable tension.
