MN: Test confirmed Gabbia has suffered collateral ligament injury – his 2020 is over

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan defender Matteo Gabbia has suffered a ligament problem in his left knee which means 2020 is over for him from a playing point of view.

Pioli was forced into an early change less than five minutes in on Sunday night when Gabbia went down after a challenge for a loose ball and he was unable to continue, meaning Pierre Kalulu came on for his Serie A debut.

According to what is being reported by MilanNews, the initial diagnosis has been confirmed that Gabbia has sustained an injury to the collateral ligaments of his left knee. It is an injury that is anything but mild for Gabbia, who will be evaluated again later as his therapies will continue.

It is highly unlikely therefore that we see the 21-year-old in action again for Milan before 2021, something which is likely to push the management towards the signing of a new defender in the January window.
