MN: The pros and cons of Milan’s rumoured signing of Dortmund midfielder

By Isak Möller -

In a greedy transfer market with big names, clubs often try to find the best solutions economically speaking. Therefore, free transfers have been tougher to secure in recent years, which certainly is understandable.

Mario Götze is one of the players that will be out of contract this summer and AC Milan have reportedly set their sights on him. In one of their latest articles, MilanNews.it have analyzed the pros and cons of signing the Borussia Dortmund man.

Certainly, as Milan lack quality and experience, Götze would be an interesting signing. At the same time, the Rossoneri are working on an ambitious project and the German No.10 is seemingly in a descending phase of his career.

The midfielder has struggled to establish himself as a leader both physically and mentally. In this sense, for a club that needs guidance, on and off the pitch, Götze doesn’t seem to fit the profile.

Italian football isn’t among the fastest in Europe, but the trend could soon change. The potential arrival of Ralf Rangnick, therefore, could be a mentality revolution as he focuses on speed and constant pressing.

Götze, who isn’t exactly the quickest player, thus doesn’t seem suitable for the 61-year-old’s ideas and the possible new Milan. To summarize, as the article continues, the signing would be somewhat of a surprise.

Opportunities are generally seized but at the same time, it’s necessary to understand when the latter could turn into disadvantages.
