There will be yet another litmus test for the midfield pairing of Ismael Bennacer and Franck Kessie in Saturday’s derby against Inter.
As MilanNews notes, the African duo have been absolutely exceptional in recent months forming the best midfield pivot in the league, but they will have to prove themselves in one of the most anticipated matches of the season.
The Rossoneri’s opponents this weekend are Scudetto contenders and that is in no small part due to their midfield, which is likely to feature Barella, Brozovic and Eriksen and possibly also Vidal.
Kessie and Bennacer will have to show their quality and each with have a specific role: the Ivorian will stop the balls directed towards the Nerazzurri front two, while the Algerian will be the launching point of counter-attacks and will bring energy to the press.
Milan passed important tests in the post-lockdown period by beating the likes of Roma, Lazio and Juventus, but the record against Inter in recent seasons is not good and it is time for a change in fortunes.
