MN: Tonali reflects after being offered huge pay hike as part of €60m Newcastle bid

Newcastle United have made a very big offer to sign midfielder Sandro Tonali from AC Milan, according to a report.

According to what is being reported by MilanNews, Newcastle’s interest in Tonali very concrete and is making the player think a lot because they have offered him a contract worth double the current €3-3.5m net per season he earns as Milan.

The ball is at Tonali’s feet now as he will have to decide whether or not to accept a move to Newcastle given the financial terms offered, and only then will the negotiations between the two clubs come to life to establish the right price tag.

A figure that is around €60m has emerged, but it cannot be excluded that Milan may have a higher demand than that given his potential and his importance.

However, this scenario – the one of talks between the clubs developing – can only occur if Tonali expresses his will to leave Milan, which is his boyhood team and one he feels very attached to.

    1. It can’t happen. His contract would be long term and Newcastle wouldn’t accept to lose all invested money.

Chelsea sent Lukaku for 1 year loan, but now it will not happen again. They will either sell him for some reasonable amount or use him.

      1. Yours? Did you mean ours?

We only need to fix few areas as well, we already had few seasons of squad building unlike them who only start last year.

        1. Newcastle has progressed far ahead of schedule. They were going to spend heavily if they didn’t make UCL or Europa spots. But now that they have, they can actually just buy smart (not like they didnt before, after all the got Botman last yr who basically got them top 4). They also released about 8 players so they have room for statement signings.

  1. These cheap owners will be rubbing their hands with glee. 50m in their pocket and 10m on a hopeless, cheap replacement from the French league.

    1. “50m in their pocket”

LOL! You do realize that’s not how these things go? The owners cannot simply withdraw money from the clubs account like it’s their own personal bank account.

  2. Wow 6-7m euro salary for tonali. Well it is his choice now . Stay become legend in AC Milan or go to newcastle for big money. Cannot blame him if he choose newcastle , it is his life and football career not lasting forever. I personally hope he stay because only few italian player can success in EPL , many have failed there

    1. No, this is not on him. Not now. It’s very clear that there is no room for legends in the new era.
I mean he wants to stay and become and legend, this is beyond any doubt. But does the club wants this? I doesn’t seem so. Selling and profit are the keys, right?

  3. When Milan management was dealing to lower the price to get Tonali he accepted a pay just to join us on a permanent basis and now they are saying that he Tonali is thinking if he stays at is boyhood club where hes a leader or if goes to club in premier league that is offering more money.Tonali already proved he is not moved by money if that whas the case then he would not have join us!

    1. Exactly what I was going to say. “Tonali reflects”? Really. I think he made his reflections ages ago and we know how that turned out.

    2. Even if anyone leaves in the team, its not their mistake but the management.
There is no clear idea what was the future or what club wants to do for next year and plan for next few years.
They are not trying to fill the void that happened because of Maldini sacking
Except Mike everyone has renewed their contracts less than a year ago.

Just hope players show lot of patience with the headless chickens.

  4. To lose such a key part of the team, an Italian and a future captain would seem like £45m is way too low.

We do need to start generating some sales, but I’d be surprised if it started here and at that value – would be a huge shame with no obvious replacement in mind.

  5. Its tonali personal choice either accept or not….but I can bet redbird would be like yes plz accept and negotiate with newcastle buy some young moncadda talent and balance books and then there will be an article over here saying how genius is cardinale putting milan account in blue even not qualifying for champions league next year…..that’s how efficient football business model works…..and I know I will be bashed on this comment but plz be civilised

    1. Club cannot forced player to accept the deal from NU. Club cannot sell player without agreement from player . So i believe tonali will choose stay but if he accept NU offer then NU will start negotiate with AC Milan for price . Even with elliot , AC Milan account already healthy thanks to gazidiz effort so RedBird dont need to sell player to balance the book. But of course ACM still need to sell deadwood in bench like rebic, origi, ballotoure, junior messias for raising fund

  6. This says nothing about Milan willingness to sell Tonali nor about Tonali desire to leave Milan.
Another rumor pushed by English media after the Barella rumor

  7. Just offer Newcastle other player like CDK for 40M, Krunic for 30M, Uncle Ben for whooping 60M to raise fund buying replacements

  8. Time to start the chronology of Post-M&M trajectory of Milan’s direction. We shall know them by their ‘works’.. Bookmark this article for future reference.

    1. End of season – Fired Maldini and Massara…
    2. June 2023 ends without any new purchases made, despite a lot of lots of ‘interest propositions’
    3. Put Tonali up for sale. Newcastle makes first Euros 60m bid.

  9. He’s not ‘considering’ – his representatives are currently in London right now discussing a deal. With the $$$$$ Newcastle have, he is as good as gone.

What matters now is how we replace him ,especially with Bennacer out for so long.

    1. And who else is represented by his agent?
Frattesi, Cristante, Rovella, Mancini, Pessina, Cataldi, Petagna, Sensi etc.

Frattesi is far more likely “target” than Tonali. I’m sure Tonali won’t be after the extra money.

  10. Transfer window starts on 1st July. So purchases can’t be made yet. And it seems we have Kamada in line and will sign in June. That is totally ok.

Nobody put Tonali up for sale. Newcastle made offer. If Tonali says “i want to go”, then it would be stupid to force him to stay.

  11. “Milan have reportedly turned down Newcastle’s offer for Sandro Tonali and want at least €80m to sell the Italy international.”

    Now that’s what I’m talking about! =)

  12. I’m not in favor of selling Tonali, certainly not for 60 when we are asking 100M for Mike. For me it’s 100M for the top players.
I’m more concerned with the player thinking of raising his salary. I’d be really disappointed he left this place knowing he can become a legend here, only for some oil money.

  13. Most overrated player in Italy. I wouldn’t be that upset if he left. He helps the team and I have no idea whether this crappy Milan management could find a replacement, but that’s another issue. I’ve never rated Tonali that highly, so..
