AC Milan have begun preparations at Milanello ahead of Friday night’s game against Lecce at San Siro and an update has arrived on two players.

Milan got back to work yesterday after the high of the derby win against Inter and they continued training today with the aim of starting a run of victories, with Lecce the next team they will face in two days.

According to what is being reported by MilanNews, Davide Calabria carried out an individual training session on the field today with some staff, while Marco Sportiello completed a personalised session too.

Calabria missed the derby having suffered a knock in training while Sportiello has been absent since partway through the preseason tour of the United States after an accident in the hotel which caused a deep cut to his hand that needed surgery.

In terms of the other injury news ahead of Friday’s game, Ismael Bennacer will be out until early 2025 after undergoing surgery on a complete tear of his calf, while Alessandro Florenzi is expected back towards the end of the season following a knee operation.

    1. Because terminating Florenzi’s contract would cost the same as keeping him so there is nothing to gain there. On the other hand he might still offer some value to the group of players with his presence amongst them as he has leader qualities.
Personally I hope he gets a well deserved farewell from the club in May as i highly expects that he will either join a different club or retire at the end of the season.

      1. Honestly I hope there is a place for Flo. He is a leader as you say and a clearly positive I fluency in and off the pitch.

While I am glad Sporty is doing well, I hope he moves to 3rd in the pecking order. Torriani acquitted himself very well against Liverpool. This provided we give Mike some spells to mitigate injury so Torriani get a more game time.

Otherwise it may be better for Torriani to play full time in Futuro.

        1. Well to be fair I would hope that there was room for both him and Calabria but I cant see both staying beyond the season and Florenzi is far more injury prone than our captain. I have nevertheless always liked Florenzi as I’ve followed him since the start of his career at Roma and always wanted us to sign him at an early stage of his career but as he will turn 34 around the time he returns from his injury I have a difficult time seeing him staying beyond this season. He is nevertheless an impeccable professional and is glad with what he has offered us when ready for the club.

I like Sportiello as well so I’m a bit mixed about it but Torriano has done well both in the pre-season and against Liverpool as you mentioned it so at the very minimum the kid should give him some competition for his spot.
A loan where he is fairly sure to play regularly might also do him some good but I do feel like he offers some guarantees despite his young age.
