Aster Vranckx could get his first start for AC Milan against Spezia on Saturday night but not as a holding midfielder, according to a report.
Milan do not have much time to celebrate their win over Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League as attention instantly turns to beating Spezia to fully get back on track after the 2-1 defeat against Torino last weekend.
According to a report from MilanNews, Pioli is studying some new ideas as part of the preparations in training and some indications arrived today regarding a potential role for Vranckx. The Belgian is a candidate for a start in the role of attacking midfielder, with Rafael Leao on the left and Brahim Diaz on his right.
That would mean Charles De Ketelaere starts on the bench, and it would be a strong show of faith in Vranckx who has so far been restricted to cameo appearances off the bench since his loan with option to buy move from Wolfsburg over the summer.
I think CDK needs to get experience even though he is not playing well. I don’t know if playing Diaz and Vranckx ahead of him is beneficial for the team in the long haul. Both players are on loan.

Tonali, Tomori, Florenzi, and Messias are on loan before Milan permanent them.
And the reason Milan bring Vranckx and Diaz is to help Milan win and give more depth to the team. So there’s NO REASON not to play Vranckx and Diaz just because they are on loan from other club.
CDK still have 5 years contract with Milan. There’s no need to rush him just because he doesn’t score a single goal or keeps making asssist after assist.
I think CDK could do well deeper down – so let Tonali rest and play CDK and Bennacer in the pivot. He is slower but has a great eye for the game. It might give him more time to gain some confidence and take on the CAM role in the future.
Cdk is physically a 5 year old child. No he cannot play as a dm/cm in a double pivot, maybe in a 3 man mid as the attacking-most one. When he gets his confidence back he will play stronger but right now I bet the youth team can push him around
