Luka Modric’s future is something of great interest in the AC Milan sphere, but they will be kept waiting a little longer.
There has been a lot said about Modric and what his future holds. Ultimately, the Croatian’s future has always been in his hands. When he signed a one-year deal at San Siro an extension clause was included, but that decision was his.
Traditionally, it would be the club that had the final say. However, the midfielder holds all the cards, as he does on the pitch.
Modric’s decision in May
Around Milanello, the message is clear. Everyone loves the midfielder and what he brings to the team, so they want him to stay. These messages, or pleas, are often public too. Matteo Gabbia has recently banged the drum about him staying, but it is likely to have very little effect on his decision.
Instead, it has always been a case of competitiveness and how he feels.
As MilanVibes writes, the Croatian is still undecided, which is not too much of a surprise. Whilst the first steps have been made to improve the squad, they must qualify for the Champions League first.
So, the decision is expected to arrive between the end of May and start of June. Considering the eight-point gap to fifth with five games left, the focus will be on finishing the season. Then, he will make his heavily anticipated decision.
