Monaco chief reveals why Andre Silva move broke down

By Oliver Fisher -

Oleg Petrov, the vice-president of AS Monaco, has spoken out about why the deal to sign Andre Silva collapsed.

The Portuguese striker was all set for a move to Ligue 1 last month, but then the deal fell through at the last minute.

Since then, his agent Jorge Mendes has been working to find him a new club, as the Rossoneri are looking to sell.

When asked recently about his future, Silva was unable to provide any details on the matter: “What do I expect from my future? No one knows”.

There were rumours that Monaco had made another attempt to sign the former Porto star, however Petrov now appears to have put that speculation to bed.

“This transfer did not happen because of financial disagreements between the clubs, not for an injury,” he told AFP.

“There is no negotiation now, we are exploring other avenues.”
