Preparations for the summer mercato are underway, and AC Milan will evaluate their needs and wants as the window gets closer. An area where the Rossoneri may need to invest is midfield, and one of their targets has spoken about what it means to be linked with the club.
Today, a report has claimed that Milan’s senior figures understand the need to add depth to their midfield, especially considering that if they had additional defensive options, they could have been more credible Scudetto challengers.
As a result, it is believed that the club are looking at three candidates. Firstly, there is Khephren Thuram, the Frenchman who can play in a midfield two and three, and he is admired for this reason. Today’s report suggested that the Rossoneri may also evaluate another two other Frenchmen: Youssouf Fofana and Ibrahima Sissoko.
Fofana spoke to MilanNews after Monaco’s game against Metz and expressed his thoughts about the links to Milan.
Would you like to join some of your French teammates at Milanello?
“I think Milan is a really huge club. Everyone knows Milan and its record of achievements. But apart from the chatter in Italy, I remain focused on my mission.”
What is your mission?
“I want to take Monaco into the Champions League, which will be like a marathon. From here to the end of the season, every game is like a final. And there are seven left to play. We have to ‘scratch’ points where we have to give everything in every game. When you play for Monaco, you know that the Champions League is the club’s natural goal.”
So the Champions League will be played in Monaco and not at AC Milan next year?
“As I said, Milan is one of the biggest clubs in the world with an impressive trophy cabinet, but my focus at the moment is to qualify for the Champions League with Monaco.”
