The month of April is huge for AC Milan as the quarter-finals of the Champions League are on the agenda as well as vital league games in the bid for a top four spot.
As Corriere dello Sport reports today (via MilanNews), Milan’s future could depend a lot on the next three games that the team play in Serie A, starting with tomorrow night’s game against Empoli at San Siro.
After that the Rossoneri will face off against Bologna a match that on paper could well be the most difficult of the next three in the league, both because of the level of the opponent and the scheduling due to playing in the Champions League before and after.
Finally, when a verdict on the European journey has been issued, Milan will host Lecce at home who the Rossoneri dropped points against in the reverse fixture, coming from 2-0 down to draw 202.
In the next 20 days Milan are playing for their future both in terms of present European competition and also securing a spot in it for next year, with a top four finish imperative and the next three matches crucial.
The three simple matches are simpler on paper but they have proved to be the most difficult for Milan this year, while at the end of April a trip to the Stadio Olimpico to face Jose Mourinho’s Roma.
5 more victories guarantees the UCL-spot for next season. Two against Napoli, two against Benfica and one against Real Madrid. A couple of draws might suffice too. Sounds easy, eh? 🙂
