Tuttosport: Monza and Milan share plenty of links but different philosophies

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will face off against Monza tomorrow night in a match that is full of sub-plots given the close links between the two sides.

Today’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) talks about Monza-Milan tomorrow, a match that will not be just like any other for Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani given they spent 31 years at Milan and won 29 trophies.

Despite the excellent relationship between the two clubs, Monza and Milan represent two completely opposite philosophies. Today the Rossoneri are in the hands of an investment fund which – unlike what Berlusconi did in his years at Milan – do not plan to spend a lot of money on pre-established players but instead prefer to invest in young talent.

It is a choice that paid off last year with the conquest of an almost unexpected Scudetto. Furthermore, the way of operating on the market is different as Monza are a team made up of numerous Italian players, so much so that they have nine out of eleven on the field against Bologna. Milan, on the other hand, speaks several languages, could take to the field with Tonali as the only Italian.

Pioli should expect a tough game against Palladino’s rampant Monza side who are yet to lose in 2023. It will be a match that evokes sweet memories, especially with Maldini at Milan, and it features two teams with different ideas but united by the same passion.
