Monza player’s agent confirms he was ‘very close to Milan’ but needed game time

The agent of Monza player Warren Bondo has revealed that he was very close to signing for AC Milan but chose the Brianzoli to ensure regular game time.

Speaking during an interview with Numero Diez (via Milan Post), Fabrizio Ferrari explained that regular minutes was deemed to be the most important thing for Bondo and his development, which ended up counting against Milan.

Milan were linked with a move for the 2003-born Frenchman in the past as he is a very talented midfielder that plenty of big clubs are aware of.

He signed for Monza in 2022 from AS Nancy and he then spent some time on loan at Reggina in Serie B. He has been back at Monza this season and is becoming an important player, featuring 17 times in Serie A. He has scored one goal, which ironically came in the 4-2 win over Milan earlier this season.

As the agent explained, they valued first-team experience over the stature of the club and that may have proved to be the right decision as Raffaelle Palladino seems to be trusting Bondo more and more.

“He was very close to Milan. The Rossoneri, thanks to their scouting team and their focus on the French market, were among the first to show interest, and it was certainly a possibility. We received a call for him to join the first team. The boy wanted to play, and it was difficult to envision his stable integration into the first team. The path at Milan would have been challenging, so we all thought that Monza could be the best way forward,” Ferrari said.
