Morata thanks Atletico Madrid colleagues as Milan move grows closer: “They understand me”

By Euan Burns -

Alvaro Morata has publicly thanked some of his Atletico Madrid colleagues as his move to AC Milan gets closer and closer to completion.

The Spanish striker was speaking at a press conference (via Milan News) after the 2024 European Championship final against England and he chose to thank the faith shown in him by the Atletico Madrid CEO, coach Diego Simeone and teammate Koke.

“I want to thank Miguel Ángel Gil, Cholo Simeone and Koke, because they knew how to understand me in difficult moments,” Morata said.

The comment is not necessarily a farewell speech, but may soon look like one with Morata expected to undergo medical tests soon in Madrid to get the move off the ground.

The striker should be arriving in Milan soon after the team returns from the pre-season tour in the United States of America.

There is a chance that he arrives at Milanello when the senior team are enjoying a break following the tour, so that would leave him training with Milan Futuro until the proper senior training schedule is in place.

Milan are still looking at other strikers who could join the club at the same time to act as backup for Morata, with the likes of Niclas Fullkrug, Jhon Duran and Tammy Abraham being linked.
