Alvaro Morata is just one step away from leaving AC Milan to join Galatasaray on an initial loan deal. As clarified by the reliable Matteo Moretto, it’s a move that could become an obligation for the Turkish side.

When the news of Morata’s move to Galaratasary first broke, it was suggested that Milan had agreed to a six-month loan. Then, there were mentions of an 18-month loan with just an option to buy, so understandably there has been some confusion among the fans.

As clarified by Matteo Moretto on X, Morata will initially join the Turkish side on a six-month which automatically will be extended by another 12 months in the summer. The option to buy will become an obligation if certain conditions are met, although the journalists didn’t give any specifics here.

Seeing as the length of the loan will be 18 months, one will have to assume that the conditions for the clause to become an obligation are easily achieved. Furthermore, as Morata is the highest gross earner at Milan, it’s only reasonable to think that Galatasaray will cover the salary.

Morata is expected to travel to Istanbul today, meaning the move will soon be made official. His replacement at Milan, Santiago Gimenez, is currently undergoing his medical for the club.

  1. Disastrous signing. As Spain captain he never showed his leadership nor did he score goals which he was brought in for. From management perspective they bet on the wrong horse. Even worse he was the backup option to Zirkzee who turned out to be even worse. Pioli & Fonseca were sacked yet Moncada and our management remain in charge! Only positive is we are getting out money back.

      1. He’s the highest paid player at the club. He was not a cheap option.

Say what you like about Morata but he’s been consistently playing for top teams, coaches and his country for over a decade. He has a lot of miles on his clock and maybe it’s catching up, maybe he’s fatigued after basically having no break over the summer, maybe his divorce is having an effect. Maybe he doesn’t gel with this team.

  2. Morata has never been prolific as a striker. Not that he is bad but for me average. Milan need a mixture of striker especially one that can head the ball, and is also physical. Zirkzee would be good at Milan he is tricky but after refusing Milan and has loss all he has, it’s best he remains were he is because we the fans would never acknowledge him. Just hope our new striker becomes a beast upfront.

  3. Terrible signing and terrible deal. Loan for 18 months and no obligation to buy?????

LOLOLOLO….not so easy to dump players is it Furlani??? 13M down the trash bin. Add Emerson 15M and Chukuweze 28M and Okafor 13M, Pelligrino 3M, = 72 MILLION !!!! And that doesn’t even count their SALARIES! And the Redbird Lovers complain about the Free Origi??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
