Moretto: Milan to renew Primavera star and ‘include him in second team project’

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are expected to announce the renewal of Lapo Nava’s contract soon, and more confirmations have arrived regarding the B-team project.

Matteo Moretto, a transfer expert from the Spanish editorial team of Relevo, broke the news regarding Nava with a post on his X account, stating that he will renew with Milan until 2027 and that an agreement has been reached.

He added an interesting footnote as well: the Rossoneri’s plan is to include him in the second team project. This strongly implies that Milan have the concrete intention of starting up a second team to help the development of their young prospects.

The news has been bouncing around Italy’s various media outlets for weeks now stating that Milan have decided – like Atalanta and Juventus – to create a ‘Next Gen’ type team to register in Serie C.

The objective is obviously to give space to their young players to grow in a league of a higher competitive level than that of the Primavera, also developing prospects internally and avoiding the classic series of loans between Serie B and Serie A.

The moves to keep improving the youth sector are continuing after they entrusted the department to Vincenzo Vergine, who arrived from Roma, and he is believed to be a big sponsor of the idea of a B-team.
