Matteo Moretto has played down reports suggesting that AC Milan will not hire a new sporting director, but admitted he is unsure who it will be.
Milan have been heavily linked with various sporting directors in recent weeks and months, yet we are in the middle of May and nobody has been appointed. In an interview with Sky before the Bologna game, the CEO Furlani stated that they won’t make a decision before the end of the season.
Speaking to DAZN shortly after Furlani went one step further by making it clear that the Rossoneri leadership are actually evaluating whether to hire a director or not. In other words, there is a possibility – in his eyes at least – that the current management could remain unchanged.
Speaking on his YouTube channel (via TheMilanZone), Moretto confirmed that Milan are still wanting to hire a new director to complete the management, but the favourite remains a mystery.
“I confirm that Milan intend to complete the organisational chart with the inclusion of a figure such as a sporting director. So the initial idea does not change. Then we will understand better and I will tell you better, in due time, what the name will be,” he said.

I really dont understand why it is taking this much time to appoint a sporting director. By now these fools should already have appointed one and started planning for the next season regarding potential signings, headcoach and overall strategy moving forward. They havent learned anything, june is around the corner and these fools will wait until the last second to sign one random SD just as they do with players. This just shows how shtty they are att closing deals. This whole thing is mind boggling.

They DO want a sporting director because the current structure doesn’t work and everyone is screaming for a SD so might as well try to please the fans BUT they’re not willing to give the SD the autonomy and control that he will ask for.
In other words, they didn’t find a puppet who will listen to them.
