Although the January mercato has just shut, AC Milan are already making considerations for the summer mercato, and they have their primary target listed.
It was a fantastic window for Milan by all accounts in January, and Milanisiti will pray it continues in the summer after the ‘most explosive’ window just took place. The Rossoneri have been crying out for investment in the right way, and the most recent mercato was a stunning example of how to carry that out.
Now though, it must be continued (within reason of course), and the Diavolo are already making plans for the summer, with further improvements already earmarked by the club to continue the progress made now.
This afternoon, Matteo Moretto revealed what Milan are planning for the next mercato on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, and the journalist stated one player is at the top of the list – his comments have been relayed by Milan News.
“Ricci will be Milan’s number one target to reinforce the midfield in the summer. The operation has already been set, then the negotiations must be closed, but Milan’s intention is to go ahead until the Torino player is signed.”
I said it in the other article and I’ll say it again.
Unless we made an agreement with the player or something like that, then all those articles are useless. By summer we might face harsh competition for this player. It was reported that Inter, Manchester City and so on are interested by him, and it’s very unlikely that we can outbid them.
Furthemore if we fail to make it to the UCL, which is very likely, then he’ll be more tempted to go for a club which will play in the UCL.
He is not the level of MC, and Guardiola wants other profiles. Marotta might finally decide that Asllani is not Inter material, and move for Ricci. So it will likely be a transfer race between Italian teams.
Exactly, While everyone has been over the moon for all the new signees we still missed the number one target with no agreement in hand. I understand if Torino weren’t going to sell in during the winter window (I feel they would have if a top offer was presented, like Feyenoord did) but EPL teams and the usual suspect (Inter) will come in and under cut us in the summer. Have to hope we can give a good salary and the player wants Milan.
So what are you saying? We should have paid Cairo 50M now for a total spend of 83M in January? Can’t have your cake and eat it too my friend.
City just got Gonzalez from Porto, so I doubt very much, inter however could be a threat so will see, in any cases we should be ahead from now and get a gentleman agreement in order to close it early summer and not drag this story throughout the transfer market just like we did with Zirkzee
The thing is City need more midfielder. They got Gundogan, KDB, Bernardo and Kovacic who, although is still quality, but already past 30… but I can imagine they want someone more proven and ready than Ricci.
And so I agree that we need to close the operation early if we want Ricci.
If we can offer a starting spot for Ricci he will come here. Inter can’t guarantee that. We just need to offer a more enticing deal. And we are Milan. End of story.
Well Torino doesn’t care to whom it will sale. If a bidder offers more money the name doesn’t matter for them. As for Ricci, if things drag and he recieves multiple offers, maybe we won’t hear “Ricci only wants Milan”.
But again, it’s too soon to tell, but I’d rather we be prepared.
Ricci is a Pirlo/Gatusso and Tonali fanboy, said it himself…
If our management is too dense to realize that opportunity then we are f-ed… 20 internationals already, technically 18 since Jimenez is u21 and Jovic has never taken the international slot in UCL squad… but it doesn’t change the fact that not only international spots can go to only those that we have to cut another player….
RLC, Chukwueze, Emerson sales, (and no matter if we keep Saelemakers or Tammy that spot is taken more or less) give us total of 2 international spots.
there are still only 18 players that are quality that we own, 2 others I would more or less keep are on loan (Felix and Tammy) and the rest of the 6 are $hit (3 – I mentioned in the beginning, and additionally Jovic, Florenzi, Sottil)… 3 Italians are a must at this point… we ignored Fagioli, Rovella, Kayode cheap deals already…
And who sits? What if Joao Felix turns out to be a hit and wants to stay? Conceicao clearly likes him and he makes it easy to play 4-4-2. That’s 40M easy and also only leaves 2 CM spots. If that happens, does Reijnders go to the bench or does Fofana, and do we have enough money?
Enough money? Theo will be sold so he’ll finance 1-2 purchases alone. Chukwueze, Saelemaekers, Pobega, Adli will go too for sure.
Lets see how explosive it was, we did not bring a muani or tel, we went for Santiago has no experience in a top league. I think thamy will be our starting striker
Santi will get his chance but I fear he will not be much better than Morata or Tammy. The illness is the midfield and we will struggle until that is remedied.
This is all up in the air, but if we get him I will be very, very happy. Finally a tactically intelligens player in midfield.
It’s about time Milan moved on from mediocre unproven signings and get serious. Signings like Ricci and this winter window is the way to go.
If it’s the case of financial limitations, I wouldn’t mind we sign just 2 quality players per window, than 10 cheap ones
“Oh we are so fvcked, everyone will outbid us”, “oh we’ll never sign anyone good” etc. etc. etc… 🥱
Well, we’re hot on the heels of a simply remarkable transfer window and the tireless doom & gloom pack is already saying that will won’t manage to sign this or that player, its really amazing…
So boring to read their baby comments.
I think he will go to bigger club this summer coz Torino already sign the replacement: Cesare casadei from Chelsea.
No sh!t.
Milan need an agreement with the player for the summer so that they don’t get into a bidding war with other clubs.
Who even knows what happens in the summer? The core players have stayed: Theo, Leao, Maignan, Reijnders, Pulisic. These are the players that raise the value of Milan. For all we know RedBird will offload Milan back to Elliott in the summer. And the Ricci plans with it.
I’m 80% sure Theo is leaving this summer. There seems little desire on both sides to renew. I mean, given what we’ve seen this season, do you want him to renew? If he worth 7M per season? I think he gets sold for 30-40M.
I’m 99.9% sure he’ll leave. His mind already left last summer but no one made an offer for him.
Always 12 months late.
If Milan wants Ricci it’s going to cost north of €40m.
Some decent operators would ‘find’ Ricci before he is an established player in a national team….but then Casadei is now at Torino and Ndour is at Fiorentina.
Exactly.
Been talking about Ricci from Empoli for years now, and Ederson too, when he was still at Salernitana. Unfortunately, most people, including those making the decisions at Milan, have only just realized how good both of them are now. Sigh
I encourage everyone r listen to this podcast about Redbird and Elliot and the status of our club:
